Sales Director – New Vehicles Repentigny Chevrolet Buick GMC (Groupe Tremblay Auto)

About the position We are seeking an experienced leader to manage and optimize the profit center dedicated to the sale of new vehicles. You will ensure customer loyalty, profitability, and performance of the service, while effectively managing human resources and demonstrating extensive knowledge of the market, performance standards, and profitability thresholds specific to the sector.

Main Responsibilities

  • Set monthly and annual sales goals, gross revenue targets, and expenses for the new car department.
  • Prepare and monitor the department’s annual operating budget.
  • Implement and oversee a lead management system and sales process to optimize conversion rates.
  • Daily monitor the activities on the showroom floor and report key indicators accurately to management.
  • Check inventory daily and ensure optimal rotation and stock balance.
  • Evaluate incoming used vehicles, verify titles, and assess mechanical and body condition.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on programs increasing revenues from new vehicles and after-sales accessories, financing, and insurance.
  • Respond promptly to all information requests received by email (“same-day” responsiveness).
  • Analyze lease renewal reports and propose actions to maximize the portfolio’s profitability.
  • Design and oversee advertising campaigns and promotions.
  • Define and maintain exemplary delivery standards and plan the initial after-sales appointment upon vehicle delivery.
  • Support the used vehicle department in trade-in evaluations, if necessary.
  • Analyze customer satisfaction and propose retention and loyalty initiatives.
  • Plan the display of vehicles in the showroom and on the parking lot.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations related to the sale of new vehicles.
  • Stay informed about product updates, programs, and promotions from the manufacturer and financial institutions, and communicate any changes to the sales team.

Human Resources Management

  • Lead daily and weekly meetings, and implement ongoing training systems.
  • Train, motivate, and participate in recruitment in collaboration with management.
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations at regular intervals.
  • Assist salespeople in closing transactions and accompany clients if necessary.
  • Ensure sales staff adhere to dealership policies and procedures.
  • Monitor efforts by sales staff to enhance the image and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote teamwork and a customer service-oriented culture.
  • Maintain effective and harmonious internal communications with other departments.
  • Participate in management meetings and adopt a professional stance.
  • Perform other tasks as needed and directed by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sales management/leadership in the automotive sector.
  • Proven leadership, experience in team management and development, results-oriented, and budget management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret reports, KPIs, CRM systems, and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to the sale of new vehicles and proactive awareness of product and promotional updates.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, high level of customer service, and client-focused approach.
  • Fluency in French; English is an asset.
  • Availability for occasional travel and capacity to work flexible hours.
