Used Vehicle Director / Buyer
Job Summary The Used Vehicle Director / Buyer is responsible for the acquisition, evaluation, and management of the used vehicle inventory. They optimize the department's profitability by developing effective purchasing strategies, negotiating the best deals, and working closely with sales and management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Search for and purchase used vehicles from individuals, dealerships, auctions, and partners.
- Assess the condition, history, and market value of vehicles.
- Analyze the market to identify the best purchasing opportunities.
- Negotiate acquisition prices and close transactions.
- Manage vehicle trade-ins to maximize profitability.
- Maintain a balanced inventory aligned with customer needs.
- Oversee the preparation and marketing of used vehicles.
- Collaborate with the sales, financing, and service departments.
- Monitor performance indicators (inventory turnover, margins, purchase and sales volumes).
- Ensure excellent customer service and develop lasting business relationships.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in purchasing or managing used vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge of the automotive market and evaluation tools.
- Strong negotiation and business development skills.
- Leadership, autonomy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.
- Proficiency with computer tools and vehicle purchasing platforms (Marketplace, auctions, etc.).
