Job Description

Workshop Manager – Rivière-des-Prairies

Start date: As soon as possible

Do you want to run a workshop... for real? At Communauto, we not only manage the largest car-sharing service in North America: we contribute to a more sustainable, accessible mobility model, better adapted to urban life. Behind each vehicle, there are well-orchestrated operations, prioritized interventions, and teams that keep things moving daily.

We are looking for a Workshop Manager for our Rivière-des-Prairies facility: someone who enjoys fieldwork, coordination, and environments where quick decisions and operational progress are required.

The role in brief

You will be the floor leader. Specifically, you will:

  • Organize and prioritize work based on urgency and the workshop’s actual capacity
  • Analyze and assign work orders among mechanics
  • Manage vehicle flow (movements, parking, jockeys, work sequences)
  • Decide where and how interventions will be carried out (workshop, mobile unit, etc.)
  • Ensure the quality of repairs and handle complex cases
  • Supervise mechanics daily and provide clear feedback
  • Contribute to a safe and structured work environment

Ultimately, you ensure that priorities are respected and that the garage performs.

Profile sought

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in automotive mechanics
  • Experience in workshop coordination, supervision, or similar role (foreman, team leader, technical advisor)
  • Ability to organize, decide, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Natural leadership on the ground (comfortable reorienting, guiding, mobilizing)
  • Strong technical judgment and sense of priorities
  • Responsible approach to health and safety (SST) and ability to intervene on field practices
  • Bilingual (French and English)

Assets

  • Automotive mechanic diploma (DEP)
  • Knowledge of electric vehicles

What we offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Full-time position (36 hours/week) over 4 days
  • Day schedule: Monday to Thursday (7:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
  • New building located in Rivière-des-Prairies, a few minutes from the A25 bridge
  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, optical, travel insurance
  • Collective retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Personal leave bank
  • Discounts on Communauto services and public transportation subscriptions
  • Employee and family assistance program
  • Telemedicine access

Why join us?

  • You take on a tangible field role, at the heart of operations, without managing clients or sales pressure
  • Focus on what you do best: organizing work, supporting your team, and driving progress
  • Collaboration with internal partners and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
  • Modern, well-equipped workshop, everything provided (tools, PPE); opportunity to structure practices and develop the team
  • Collaborative environment focused on efficiency, work quality, and accountability
  • Your judgment and on-the-ground leadership make a real difference daily

Location and conditions

  • Location: Rivière-des-Prairies
  • New, operational, and focused on continuous improvement setting

Operational tasks (excerpt)

  • Supervise diagnosis and repair of systems and ensure deadlines are met
  • Track work progress and ensure opening/closing of work orders
  • Distribute tasks and supervise the department

Desired experience (summary)

  • 5+ years as a Workshop Foreman / Supervisor
  • 3 years as an Assistant Service Manager (or equivalent)
