Vehicle Buyer / Vehicle Appraiser – Experienced

Groupe Horizon, based in Brossard, Quebec, is looking for an experienced Vehicle Buyer and Vehicle Appraiser to join our purchasing and fleet management department. You will contribute to optimizing vehicle procurement and rigorously assessing their value to support our profitability and quality objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage the vehicle purchasing process (prospecting, negotiation, background checks, selection of the best suppliers according to budget and operational needs).
• Assess the technical condition and history of used vehicles, perform or supervise inspections, and estimate their market value.
• Negotiate purchase and financing/leverage conditions, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with operational, financing, and stock management departments to ensure an efficient inventory flow and optimal rotation.
• Prepare appraisal reports and provide clear, well-documented recommendations to management.
• Monitor market trends, analyze total cost of ownership, and recommend cost-effective purchasing strategies.
• Ensure compliance with standards of conformity and quality, and maintain accurate documentation.

Profile

• Relevant experience in vehicle purchasing and/or appraisal; experience in the automotive industry or fleet management is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Quebec auto market and buying/selling practices.
• Ability to assess used vehicles, read inspection reports, and estimate market value.
• Excellent negotiation skills, financial analysis, and vendor management; results-oriented with a strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in French; operational English preferred.
• Valid driver's license and availability to work weekends as needed.
• Relevant education (e.g., technical, business, administration) or equivalent; vehicle appraisal certification is a plus.
