Journey-Level (Apprentice) Mechanic – Yvon Vanier Garage (Montreal, Rivière-des-Prairies)

About the position

• Occupation: Journey-Level (Apprentice) Mechanic
• Role: Qualified professional responsible for repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on motorized vehicles and equipment; autonomous work; supervision of apprentices and technical reference within the workshop.
• Required certification: CPA journey-level credential recognized by CPA Montreal (1/2/3 or A/B/C or Apprentice 1st/2nd/3rd year)
• Experience: minimum 3 relevant years
• Location: Rivière-des-Prairies, Montreal

Main responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostics and propose suitable technical solutions
• Repair, maintain, and adjust mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Read and interpret plans, manuals, and electronic diagnostic tools
• Supervise, train, and oversee apprentice mechanics
• Accurately document interventions and maintain maintenance records
• Apply and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards
• Collaborate with management to identify needs for parts, tools, and equipment
• Maintain high quality, rigor, and productivity levels

Common technical tasks

• Wheel alignment
• Oil and filter changes
• Engine diagnostics and repairs (diesel and gasoline)
• Diagnosis and repair of anti-pollution systems
• Diagnosis and repair of hybrid or electric vehicles
• Diagnosis and repair of air conditioning and heating systems
• Diagnosis and repair of injection systems (diesel and gasoline)
• Electrical/electronic diagnostics and repairs
• ECM/PCM/ECU programming
• Suspension and steering repairs
• Brake system repairs and maintenance (hydraulic)

Ideal candidate profile

• Certifications: CPA skill card (1/2/3 or A/B/C) or Apprentice 1st/2nd/3rd year
• Valid driver’s license; experience with manual transmission preferred
• Personal qualities: organized, autonomous, responsible

Requirements and qualifications

• Recognized CPA journey-level certification
• At least 3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems and diagnostic tools
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot and make appropriate decisions
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality work
